ICRS Privacy Policy
The International Cartilage Repair Society (collectively "ICRS") is committed to maintaining your confidence and trust, and accordingly maintain the following privacy policy to protect the personal information you provide. Some of the personal information ICRS collects is provided online.
What Information May be Collected?
1. Information from ICRS Members and Non Members
ICRS collects certain personal information from its Members to ensure that their ICRS records are accurate and up-to-date. ICRS also collects certain personal information from non-members who wish to purchase or obtain ICRS materials or to register for a course or from persons, who have filled in their personal data )Include me in your mailing list) with the purpose to receive regular updated information from ICRS This information includes:
o First and last name
o Home or office postal mailing address
o E-mail address (s)
o Telephone number(s)
o Fax number(s) (when provided)
o Profession and Job title, institutional affiliation
o Personal website address (when provided)
o Birth date (when provided)
o Gender (when provided)
o Educational background, Biosketch (when provided)
o Portrait Picture (when provided)
o Participation in ICRS Educational programmes
o Specialty interests (when provided)
o Market segmentation data (when provided)
o Information regarding the use of the Cartilage Knowledge Database
o Survey information (when provided)
2. ICRS encrypts sensitive personal data, such as credit card information, while being transmitted on the Internet. Credit card information is transmitted securely using SSL encryption. No credit card information of ICRS Members is stored on the ICRS website nor in the members personal member accounts.
3. The ICRS website is not set up to track, collect or distribute personal information about its visitors. It does recognize the home server of visitors, but not e-mail addresses. For example, ICRS can determine which Internet service provider our visitors use, but not the names, addresses or other information about our visitors that would allow us to identify the particular visitors to our sites.
How will this personal Information be used?
1. Personal information may be used for internal ICRS purposes by authorized ICRS staff.
2. Personal information will not be released to third parties except as noted below:
o Upon request, the ICRS may provide the names and postal mailing addresses of its Members for use in encouraging participation in Educational programmes of general interest (also others than ICRS educational events)
o Upon request, the ICRS may provide the names and postal mailing addresses of its Members to other orthopedic societies for recruitment purposes only. If ever, the ICRS shall provide such list only once annually for one-time-use and the society agrees to use it only once and delete the information after its use.
o Upon request, the ICRS may provide the names and postal mailing addresses of its Members to other not-for-profit organizations whose missions are consistent with the mission of the ICRS, upon the review and approval of the Executive Director.
o The ICRS makes available the ICRS Membership Directory at no charge on the ICRS website to all ICRS Members. This Membership Directory contains the name, postal mailing address, email address, telephone and Fax number, membership status, and year of admittance to the ICRS, as well as special fields of interests, anatomical specialty, and Biosketch as far as the information has been provided to ICRS by the members.
o Members of the public, through the ICRS website's Find a Doctor listing, may obtain limited information about the ICRS Members, including only ther Member's name, postal mailing address, email address and telephone number as well as special fields of interests, anatomical specialty, and Biosketch as far as the information has been provided to ICRS by the members. In addition, the ICRS Members may create a personal webpage link to their website that will be accessible, if ICRS has the information, from the ICRS website's Find an Doctor listing.
o Annual Meeting registration lists, including the medical registrant’s name and postal mailing address, are available for sale to exhibitors in advance of and after the World Congress. In addition, certain personal information, including the medical registrant’s name, postal mailing address, telephone, hospital affiliation and practice focus, is available at the Annual Meeting to exhibitors through a "lead system" mechanism.
o Educational events registration lists, including the attendee’s name and postal mailing address, are available at no charge to companies providing educational displays and/or providing equipment (for skills courses) after the ICRS educational events.
3. At the current time, we are aware of no other circumstances under which ICRS will provide or sell personal information collected online to third parties.
4. ICRS takes pictures and videos during its educational events by an official photographer. These pictures may be included in the ICRS Photo Gallery on the ICRS Website. Pictures and the videos may be used for promotional purposes by ICRS.
Can the personal Information Be Viewed and/or Corrected?
The ICRS encourages ICRS Members to update and correct their personal information regularly online. A review and update section is included on the ICRS web site under in the membership area to make these changes.
How Long will the Personal Information be Retained?
The ICRS retains personal information regarding ICRS Members and Non Members indefinitely. If a member required specifically to be removed from the ICRS database ICRS will remove the data permanently.
Permission to Disseminate the Personal Information (Opt-Out) of its Being Disseminated?
There is currently a mechanism for ICRS Members, to opt-out of dissemination to third parties of the personal information described in this policy. It is possible for members to opt-out of the Find A Doctor listing and the exclusion for ICRS member lists, forwarded to third parties. For this purpose the member should click on the field (exclude me from the mailing list) available in each personal members account.
Effective Date:
This policy has been in effect since June, 2005. It will continue in effect until further notice from ICRS. Modifications to this policy shall be posted as the “Privacy Policy” linked to the ICRS homepage.
